Accommodations
We hope you enjoy our little oasis in Hope Town settlement. You'll find a lot of information and some quirky rules here. Feel free to reach out to us if you need anything during your stay.
Nestled in the historical settlement, Clifford Sawyer House is the result of construction that began in 1868. This was home of Elizabeth Sawyer, the granddaughter of Wayannie Malone. Hope Town was founded in 1785 by Wayannie - a loyalist widow from Charleston, who fled the United States with her four children for safe refuge from the Revolutionary War. Today, the Clifford Sawyer House is considered to be one of the very first homes built in Hope Town and stands as a testament to an age and style gone by. Pickets fences, porches, and clapboard accents make it a prime example of quaint and colonial architecture. The house has been completely renovated in 2021, but still maintains much of its charm and decades of history.
This adorable vintage cottage is designed with high-end furniture and features throughout. Great efforts have been made to provide modern conveniences while respecting the original character and charm. Guests will love the tranquil dipping pool. The home is located in a quite residential neighborhood on the settlement's north side. Just a short 1-2 blocks stroll from the beach, harbour, shopping, restaurant bike rentals, and incredible views of the landmark lighthouse.
Please always keep in mind that you are visiting the out islands of the Bahamas. The pace is slow here. The island runs on generator and the power at times goes out. Water may need to be refilled if the cistern runs dry. Internet can be touch and go. While we try to match all of the modern conveniences of home, some challenges are outside of our control. Please also keep in mind that this is our second home, not just a rental. Please treat it with the same love and kindness of your own home.
